Truth:

When our children were young we used to sing a song with them “Be Careful Little Ears What You Hear.” Verses that followed were “little eyes what you see”, “little feet where you go”, and “little hands what you touch.” But that first verse about little ears really seems important for all of us in this hour.

Romans 10:17 tells us “Faith comes by hearing…”. What we hear builds faith in what is being said. What we hear can either produce greater faith in God or greater faith in what the enemy is doing. That is why scripture continues “…and hearing by the Word of God.”

Right now there is plenty to hear. Daily we are bombarded with reports of how the virus is spreading, how many are ill, how many have died, and what the future looks like according to the speaker. We hear of economic collapse and dire predictions of recession or even a great depression. Listening to those reports can build a great deal of fear and anxiety. It can also make it seem like nothing can stop the advancement of the enemy’s plan.

Yet what is God saying to us in the midst of all this?

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. Psalm 91

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Luke 11:9

God does not promise us that we will not go storms in life, but He does promise us that He will be with us every step of the way. What we believe depends on what we are hearing and receiving.

Family Interaction:

There are so many other scriptures that speak of God’s love and protection for us. When you gather round your table today, look up scriptures that speak to each of you about His love and protection. Then read them out loud to each other.

Or listen to those scriptures being read either through a Bible program you may have or one like Bible.is that gives you the spoken Word. Let your ears hear what God is saying. Let faith build in your heart that you are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1John 4:4)

As a family begin to speak life to each other. And help each other to listen to what God is saying in the midst of so many voices in this hour.

Prayer:

Father, in Jesus name we come to you for Your words of life. We have heard so many words of death and destruction in this hour, but we know You have a plan for us. We receive the blood of Jesus for our protection and we listen to hear Your voice, Holy Spirit. We choose to build faith, not fear, each day as a family. Help us to speak life to each other. Amen!
